It's no secret I LOVE (yes, capital love) Giada De Laurentiis.
The affair started 5 or 6 years ago when I still lived in Los Angeles. It was also when my love affair with cooking began. Back then, Kacey and I always flew Frontier Airlines from L.A. to Denver - and we flew that route A LOT! Frontier was great because they have those little TV's in the front of every single seat on the plane. I would always catch her show "Everyday Italian" on the plane, furiously scribbling down her recipes as fast as I could and then try out her dishes at home. ( I have since wised up and realized how easy it is to pop on over to foodnetwork.com and simply print those recipes out :>)
But I digress. This post is not about food.
Giada's current show on the Food Network is called "Giada at Home", and while the food she makes is AWESOME, I'm focusing on some artwork she has in the house where they shoot her show.
Everytime Giada walks from her stove to her fridge, the camera pans across the hallway leading up her staircase. And this is what we see:
Please excuse the horrible iphone pic of a moving TV screen. ha. It's all I could do!
I've always been obsessed with this painting!! I mean obsessed to the point of googling "Amore painting in Giada's house on Giada at home" in every variation I could think of until I came up with the answer.
The artist behind this "Amore" painting is a man named Darren Quinn, who is a good friend of Giada's and her husband Todd. He does sell versions of his "Amore" paintings on his website for the delightful price of $3.500.00. Lovely.
I have this huge open wall in my master bedroom upstairs that I have been wanting to put a big piece of artwork on for awhile, and this painting had me kinda giddy.
However the price, sadly, was out of the question. So I performed the cardinal sin and decided to try and make my own "Amore" painting.
I painted the blank canvas the same color as our bedroom wall, and then mixed up the rest of the colors from Acrylic paints I already had. And viola!
Still figuring out what else this room needs! Curtains, comfy chair, night stands...
Now THAT'S Amore!
Cheesy. yeah, I know :>)
